Black Diamond Farm is a place where you, your children, and the whole community can learn, grow, and heal. At this Abbotsford, BC based farm, we breed Friesian horses, lead equine-assisted learning programs, and host events. At the heart of it all are the relationships that matter most—the ones between you and the horse, and you and your authentic self.

We’re the Macdonald family, and we created Black Diamond Farm to promote community and connection.

We established our farm in scenic, tranquil Sumas Mountain in Abbotsford, BC in 2016. From the start, we wanted it to be a safe, non-judgemental place for people to build relationships with horses.

We are Friesian horse breeders and equine assisted learning providers. We have a variety of  programs allowing mostly children and youth to build confidence, learn essential life-skills, and create enduring friendships.

Equine Assisted Learning  |  Adult & Youth Programs

Equine Assisted Learning unlocks the educational and therapeutic benefits of building a  relationship with a horse. Simply spending time with this highly sensitive animal can spark healing, insight, and change. We offer one-on-one and group sessions with horses for corporate team building, leadership programs, and schools.

Friesian Horses

We proudly breed registered Koninklijke Vereniging “Het Friesch Paarden-Stamboek” (KFPS) Friesian Horses.

These strong, proud, intelligent, and friendly horses are descended from the oldest studbook in the Netherlands. Over the centuries, Friesians have been workhorses, war-horses, and riding horses. Today, on our farm, these beautiful animals are bred for dressage and personality. Our registered Ster mares are sporty and uphill, and look like they stepped out of the pages of a fairy tale. We’re so proud to share them with our community.
