The Horses

Miata
She is our second smallest lesson horse, a little bit bigger then Al Capony, and definitely the fastest.
Named after the zippy little sports car, Mazda Miata this little girl loves to go fast. Under the training of of our Sr volunteer, Savannah, this little girl had learned a lot and is learning more and more and improving all the time.
While she may not be for everyone this young lady definitely has her own fan club of kids that love riding her.
Mama Mia
Mama came to join us at BDF 2 yrs ago from an SPCA rescue.
She was seized from a property along with several other horses and due to her large size it was unclear at first that she was pregnant! But she soon delivered a beautiful little filly and they both were delivered to BDF.
Mama is an American Cream Draft which makes her one of our tallest, and definitely thickest lesson horse. Affectionately earning her the nickname Hippo.
Her daughter, Georgia, has turned into a lovely little girl and was purchased by one of our Sr volunteers who has been with us the longest, Presley. I’m not sure at this point who has the bigger fan club, Presley or her horse.
Only bits and pieces of Mamas background is known, so she is a puzzle missing lots of prices.
Miss Lauren loves the underdogs and was not about to give up on this big girl.
Under her patience and guidance it didn’t take Mama long to figure out the basics of riding and our youngest teacher Miss Riley, soon fell in love with her and took over her training.
Spending hours just bonding with her and gaining her trust.
Now the students who come early to lessons love it when they can watch Miss Riley and mama cantering around the arena clearing large jumps. And those kids who take privates with Miss Riley all love their time up on this big horse.

Al Caponey
The smallest pony of our lesson horses but definitely doesn’t have the smallest personality! This cheeky little guy is affectionately referred to as our little chihuahua.
Before coming to Black Diamond Farm he competed a lot with a young lady at the local horse shows. Riding English and western, jumping and competing in games, this little guy was often seen teaching multiple little kids how to do what was needed, to bring home a ribbon.
Al is now enjoyed by everyone at Black Diamond Farm.
Imira
Imira is a 17 year old white grey Arabian.
Imiria came to join Black Diamond Farm 1 year ago around the time covid was shutting things down and the BDF teachers used this spare time to find more horses for the riding program.
Imiria needs an experienced rider. She loves to trail ride and jump.

Apollo
Apollo is a 20 year old Arabian Gelding. His owner Hannah got him from a rescue when he was 12 years old.
Apollo loves helping in the lessons and he is always gentle when he’s ponying the kids around. He also loves to go on trail rides. But he’s still got a lot of spunk in him and he loves treats, especially stud muffins!
Glory
Glory has got to be one of the, if not the most popular lesson pony at BDF. With her gentle face, long beautiful hair and cuddly personality it’s not hard to see why she’s so popular.
While little Glory is very sweet she has a sassy side as well and can definitely be cheeky when she feels it’s her right.
Last Christmas Glory discovered her true calling when she modeled as Santa’s helper for BDF Santa photo sessions.
Glory definitely feels that she should not have to work, and just pose for photos while people tell her how pretty she is.

Harley
Harley probably has the biggest personality out of all the horses at BDF.
Rescued by Miss Meshell off the side of a hill in Oroville WA on July 4th 2013 when he was seperated from his herd as a very young foal and his mother was captured and taken out on a meat truck! Miss Meshell couldn’t leave him there so recruited locals to help her round him up and bring him home.
Easily recognizable with his distinct markings, you can often seen Harley causing mischief in the fields.
Fearless and very curious he can be ridden English or Western and has competed in both disiplines as well as a bit of jumping.
Harley has also participated in local parades and enjoys going out on the trails.
Hieke
Hieke was born May 13 2002 to the first Friesian ever imported into BC!
Hieke has done it all. She rides English and western and pulls carriage. She has pulled carriage for weddings and Parades, including Santa’s sled!
She has competed locally including events like the Agrifair – and she’s also travelled to events like Las Vegas Friesian Extravaganza and as far as Utah for Friesian shows. She has won many ribbons and prizes!
On top of all of this she’s had 8 babies!
Hieke was retired from the Vanderkooi Friesians breeding program and is now enjoying her semi retirement at 19yrs of age at BDF loving all the attention and love she receives as one of the most popular lesson horses.

Muzzy
Muzzy is the old man of BDF being close to 30yrs of age!
He’s also the first horse Miss Lauren purchased for the BDF lesson program!
Muzzy is a fjord quarter horse gelding with a personality very similar to that of Eeyore the donkey. With his big jersey cow eyes and large soft kissable muzzle it’s hard not to fall in love with Muzzy.
At his age we r starting his semi-retirment limiting his activities and keeping him for the smaller younger kids that are just learning or nervous. Muzzy is great for helping new kids get over any fears they may have of riding.
Blair
Blair is our BDF project pony ! the BDF students and volunteers helped raise money to adopt Blair, a 10 year old Fjord x Arab. Blair has had no training and will be taking her time to feel connected to our staff while slowly beginning her training .
